For the past 3 years our Dementia Friends garden space has been part of the Prestatyn In Bloom entry into Wales in Bloom.
This small garden space has helped us raise awareness of Dementia nationally, via TV, radio and newspapers. Our chair has also given presentations about it and the community spirit that is has entailed across the country.
This year as in all of the previous years we are asking for summer bedding plant donations from the public and businesses in Prestatyn and surrounding areas.
This year is going to be extra special as the garden will be part of the BBC programme “Britain in Bloom”.
If you find you have any extra bedding plants please could you donate to us, Pete, Steve or any of the team at Artisans Collective will be able to take them from you at The Old Library on Tuesday, Wednesday Friday or Saturday mornings. Or at the Morfa Gateway Project between 10am and 2pm on Thursdays.
This mini garden project is not only about civic pride for Britain in Bloom but also about raising awareness of Prestatyn Dementia Friendly Community and the voluntary work that is carried out locally.
The garden space is not just for people living with dementia, but it enjoyed by lots of people just chilling and relaxing every day. Lots of people who work at our local health centre, high st and Parc Prestatyn take lunch on the benches alongside and love the atmosphere.
