First drop in session hailed an outstanding success.
The session held at the Old Library on Nant Hall Road, Prestatyn was well attended with lots of positive feedback.
We had been searching for the right person to facilitate the sessions for sometime. Patsy has proven to be the ideal person with her knowledge and experience.
Having decided to start the sessions at the beginning of March enabled us to prepare for the events by buying promotional banners, and creating social media advertising campaigns to promote the sessions.
Artisans Collective CIC who facilitate and host the sessions placed the banners outside the Old Library and also promoted the event on Dewis Cymru and at the weekly “talking points” via Alex the community navigator.
Dementia Champion Steve Fenner of Artisans Collective CIC commented “It is great to be able to offer local citizens living with dementia the chance to get together and share experiences, stories and knowledge. It was also good to see a number of carers attending, getting advice and sharing tips and hints.”
He went on to say that ” We intend the sessions to be user-led and we will endeavour to facilitate the sessions as the users would like. We have already had some great ideas come out of the first session.”
“Over the next few weeks we may be calling upon our contacts and other community groups to become involved with some of sessions”. This format has worked well with other community activities such as Prestatyn Mens Shed.”
The sessions are a welcome addition to the weekly mind music events held in co-production with Prestatyn Town Council and facilitated by Sue Edwards. These are held in Kings Hall, Kings Avenue, Prestatyn each Wednesday from 10:30am
